SOUTHINGTON — The owner of quonset huts and industrial shops at the corner of Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike and Clark Street is looking to rezone more of the land to allow for businesses.
The previous owner of the property successfully applied to have much of the land rezoned from industrial to business in 2020. At the time, landowners proposed a Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop and a Sunoco gas station for the corner.
The interior portion of the land away from the road is still restricted to industrial uses. Bailey Investment Group, a company listed to Peter DiClementi, bought the land in June for $600,000, according to town records.
DiClementi is now looking to rezone the remainder of the 1.4-acre property for business. A message left with DiClementi wasn’t returned and it’s unclear whether Jersey Mike’s and Sunoco are still part of the plan for the site’s redevelopment.
