Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Republican Tudor Dixon pitched their platforms to the Detroit Economic Club Friday afternoon, arguing in turn that state government was either putting the pieces in place to guide Michigan toward prosperity or simply getting in the way.
As the incumbent, Whitmer was both touting her own record, saying, “we have made a tremendous amount of progress” through years of tumult, while promising to build off the foundation of the work done in her first term and realize initiatives that bring long-term growth to Michigan.
“Let’s move forward in a way that is equitable, creates opportunity for all and strengthens our economy and makes Michigan a great place that can grow and that can solve the world’s problems,” Whitmer said.
